Incidencia de la vulnerabilidad sísmica en la funcionalidad y economía de instituciones públicas del cantón El Empalme, Ecuador

Resumen

El estudio explora la vulnerabilidad sísmica en instituciones públicas del cantón El Empalme, Ecuador, enfocándose en el impacto en la operatividad y gestión económica ante desastres. Frente al desafío de una respuesta limitada a terremotos, se propone como objetivo el evaluar cómo la vulnerabilidad estructural y el deterioro de infraestructuras económicas comprometen la eficiencia en situaciones de emergencia, incluyendo el análisis económico de las pérdidas humanas causadas por esta problemática. Mediante una metodología mixta, que incluye encuestas basadas en recomendaciones del Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo, se busca identificar áreas críticas para mejorar la capacidad de respuesta y evaluación ante desastres. Los resultados subrayan la necesidad urgente de fortalecer la preparación y resiliencia, promoviendo el desarrollo de políticas y estrategias para una gestión de riesgo más efectiva y la protección de la población e infraestructura frente a eventos sísmicos.
